From antiquity to the invention of the printing press and engraving, the multiple has occupied an important place in the history of art. By enabling images to be disseminated beyond the original work, printing techniques have given artists the opportunity to reach a wider audience, whilst making the edition a genuine space for creation. Each print thus becomes a work in its own right: unique in its creative process, yet intended to be reproduced and shared.
This desire to bring the work to life and ensure its circulation is particularly evident in the work of François Schuiten. His linework, characterised by great precision and a high level of detail, demands considerable effort. A true master craftsman at his drawing board, he begins with pencil sketches to construct his images in Indian ink, which he applies with a pen. He then uses pencils and brushes to colour them in. Each work is thus the result of meticulous and demanding labour, in which the precision of the line and the richness of detail play an essential role.
It is in line with this high standard that Atlantic12 has, for several years, been developing a publishing programme devoted largely to the work of François Schuiten. Through various reproduction techniques, the publisher applies its expertise to ensure the most faithful possible rendering of the richness of the artist’s line work and the subtleties of his colouring.
Each edition is produced with particular care to preserve the power and precision of the original drawing. Atlantic12 works exclusively with specialist partners and prioritises local production. Each print run is the result of careful editorial consideration, carried out in close consultation with the artist and under their supervision; the artist approves every stage of the production process, from the preparation of the drawing to the choice of reproduction technique, the number of copies, the format and the medium. The prints are produced on acid-free, archive-quality fine art paper. This entire production process ensures a faithful reproduction of the artwork and impeccable print quality, whilst making François Schuiten’s visual world accessible through a series of carefully crafted prints.

The images are professionally packaged.
Deliveries are 100% guaranteed and returns accepted within 14 days.
Prints made with other authors (Laurent Durieux, his brother Jack Durieux, Gilles Ziller from Archives Internationales, Benoît Peeters...) or from previous editors (Brusël, Champaka, Editions Collin...) are also to be discovered.
Atlantic12 is also lucky enough to be working with Luc Schuiten, the visionary architect and utopian at the forefront of plant-based urban planning; Romain Renard, a brilliant comic strip artist and illustrator; Alain Goffin, a draughtsman, colorist and graphic designer who is a contemporary of François Schuiten; and David Merveille, a talented Brussels illustrator and colleague of the Durieux brothers.
Note: please keep in mind that it is difficult to reproduce the rendering of an image on a digital screen. In reality, images are always more beautiful not only to the eye but also to the touch of the paper and the scent of the inks. To compensate for this bias and to observe the images as faithfully as possible to reality, this site often presents photos of the prints when they are signed and sometimes in situ, framed. But again, these are just photos. There's nothing like seeing them with your own eyes to fully appreciate them.
